Project overview

Background

Helping teams migrate complex data through a clear, focused dashboard

At Bourntec Software Solutions, I designed a high-fidelity prototype for a Database Migration Dashboard to make a complex process easier for different types of users. I looked at similar tools, mapped user flows, and focused on simplifying navigation. Working closely with a product manager and developer, we built a clear and usable design—ready for implementation in just two months.

Process

Research

We started by understanding the tools and limitations

Most comparable dashboards were internal and inaccessible, so we turned inward, studying Bourntec’s existing design system and internal tools. This gave us the foundation to stay visually consistent and efficient in our handoff.

Stakeholder Interview

Aligning early through shared sketches and structure

The product manager shared a rough sketch that helped us shape early conversations. From there, I collaborated closely with the PM, developer, and a few internal stakeholders to map out what users needed to do and how the dashboard should support them.

Sitemap

I created a sitemap based on the initial structure and checked in regularly with the product manager and developer to align on priorities and make sure we were covering all the key workflows.

Outcome

The Solution

The objective was to create a fully functional, high-fidelity prototype of the dashboard that not only visualized the data effectively but also provided an intuitive user experience. This involved translating complex technical requirements into a user-friendly interface, ensuring that all essential features were easily accessible and visually coherent.

1.

A streamlined login experience

The final prototype brought everything together, with simple entry points, a clear dashboard overview, and intuitive navigation. The interface made it easy to track migration progress, manage tasks, and hand off cleanly to the development team.

2.

Dashboard landing page

I designed a simple landing page that helps customers track progress and manage pending tasks

Learnings & Takeaways

A clear handoff in just 4 weeks

This was a fast-moving project. My focus was on delivering a prototype that felt easy to use and easy to build. With structure and feedback guiding every decision, the dashboard was well-received and moved quickly into development.
